E4C is an educational charity that provides a programme of high-quality training and curriculum provision, equipping educators with the knowledge and confidence to start difficult conversations about race and racism.
E4C is a programme designed for educators by educators to ensure schools provide high-quality, practical opportunities to explore diversity and racial issues in a meaningful way. All E4C packages offer a selection of curriculum resources and training provision, which empower educators to facilitate conversations with their pupils and colleagues about the existence and widespread impact of racism, ultimately raising expectations, shifting mindsets and enabling children and young people that encounter racism to overcome real and perceived barriers.
E4C’s training modules cover a range of topics from unconscious bias and racial literacy, to significant British legislation relating to race and racism and its impact on the education system. This provision supports colleagues in educational settings to reflect on their policies and procedures and create a bespoke action plan that seeks to embed an ethos of anti-racism.
Our Curriculum Resources Platform includes access to teaching guidance and conversation starters with a national and global perspective. We know conversation is a powerful tool, whether it is through small groups, whole staff teams or a one-to-one sharing of experiences, especially if facilitated by those who have a real understanding of the impact of racism on everyday life.
E4C was born as a result of school leaders coming together with a shared passion for empowering pupils and staff to address racism head-on. The E4C programme aims to engage and open minds by challenging, inspiring and motivating children and young people to both prepare for, call out, and challenge racism when they experience or encounter it. We want to see schools and organisations where diversity is celebrated, where misconceptions are challenged, and where equality is the expectation. We believe in equipping young people to be agents of positive change in their schools and communities, as well as in the world where they will have an impact as global citizens.
E4C’s Executive Team is made up of two serving Newham Headteachers who share a determination to drive change in education. The aim of the E4C programme is to provide schools, leaders, teachers, governors and pupils with the training and resources to tackle racism in society, starting in the classroom. The Executive Team have the professional and personal expertise to provide this support so that you, as school leaders can make a difference.

Schools that sign up to an E4C package may choose to appoint an E4C Ambassador. These individuals will be instrumental to ensuring that the delivery of the programme fulfils the ambitions of the E4C vision, both internally and publicly. E4C Ambassadors will act as the representative and point of contact for all matters relating to the E4C programme within their setting.
Ambassadors will be responsible for accelerating the effective delivery of their school’s chosen E4C package, ensuring that staff are able to participate in our training and that they use the E4C learning programme to deepen their understanding of issues related to diversity, equality and racism. E4C Ambassadors will work at all levels across their educational setting to help overcome any real or perceived barriers to addressing racism. All E4C Ambassadors are invited to join a half-termly network and support meeting, chaired by a member of the E4C Executive Team. These meetings provide the space for Ambassadors to discuss progress in their respective settings, share feedback and exchange ideas for best practice.
